MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming sophomore Emily Vesely (Johnson City, N.Y.) and senior Dan Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 11.
Vesely posted a 0.438 batting average on the week across six games, while collecting three runs and two RBI’s behind seven hits.
The sophomore’s week was highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance from the plate against North Central (MN) where she collected an RBI and two runs in the narrowing 6-5 loss. She followed with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate against the College of St. Elizabeth, adding to her week tallies with a double, RBI and run.
Vesely recorded no errors while playing three different positions on the week, and in the field collected 23 put outs as she saw time at catcher, pitcher and first base.
A graduate of Johnson City High, Vesely is majoring in horticulture business management at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Sheila Crodier and Steven Vesely of Johnson City.
