MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming men’s ice hockey duo Jared Young (Pueblo West, Colo.) and Joseph Santino (Woodbridge, Ontario) it’s Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 11.

Young had a stellar outing for the Mustangs between the pipes on Friday in a 5-2 upset victory over #12 ranked Utica College. In the contest he collected a collegiate high 52 saves out of 54 faced shots, including three in the closing minutes of the contest as the Pioneers had an extra skater on the ice.

The freshman shut out Utica in the first period, registering 23 saves, and kept the Pioneers scoreless on five power play opportunities on the night.

A 2014 graduate of Fairview High School, Young played two seasons for the Dells Ducks before coming to Morrisville State to major in natural resources conservation. He is the son of Teri and Eric Young of Pueblo West, Colorado.
