MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming seniors Joe Sheehan (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Byron Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.) its Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 16.
Sheehan led Morrisville State to two shutout conference wins on the week, tallying a combined 10 points on five goals across two games. The senior recorded two in the 4-0 victory over Gallaudet, including the game winner, before following up with a hat trick in the 8-0 win over Wilson.
The senior is a graduate of Liverpool High and is majoring in horticulture business management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Ellen and Matt Sheehan of Liverpool.
Evans was the runner-up and top NEAC runner at the CCOC Championships hosted by Hobart and William Smith on Saturday. In the 8K event, Evans posted a time of 25:46.8 to place second overall in the field of 145, a mere 12 seconds behind the individual winner, and lead Morrisville State to a fourth place team finish. The men's team finished fourth overall out of 15 teams competing at the event.
Evans is majoring in automotive technology at Morrisville State. He is the son of Merry and Jim Evans of Cazenovia.
