Hanes, Lisi selected as Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming Helena Hanes (St. Mary's, Pa.) and Giovanna Lisi (Marathon, N.Y.) the Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 23.

Hanes played a key role in a 4-0 week for the Mustangs volleyball team that included a 3-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) weekend stint.

Across four matches she collected 11 kills, set up 109 assists (93 in conference play), had four service aces and registered 33 digs and five total blocks.

Hanes posted a match best 45 assists in the 3-2 win over Wells, adding 19 defensive digs, as she accounted for 8.5 points, to secure a third place finish for the Mustangs and playoff bid for the first time in program history.

The sophomore is a graduate of St. Mary's Area High and is majoring in wood products technology at Morrisville State College. Hanes is the daughter of Stephanie and Mike Hanes of St. Mary's.

Lisi, freshman forward for the field hockey team, notched the game winning goal in overtime to give Morrisville State the 1-0 victory over Wilson Sunday afternoon.

Currently tied for second in the NEAC in goals scored (6), Lisi has posted 12 points for the Mustangs in her first collegiate season.

The freshman is a graduate of Marathon High and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Penny and Jim Lisi of Marathon.
