Hardy, Dennis named Mustang Athletes of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its Mustang Athletes of the Week award winners, selecting western rider Alysha Hardy (Orange, Mass.) and men's basketball forward Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) for the weekly honor for the week ending February 26.

Hardy claimed the Zone 2, Region 3 crown Sunday in the individual intermediate western horsemanship class at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Championships held in Morrisville.

Hardy had the top ride among 13 other riders in the class, including those competing from Morrisville State, Colgate University, SUNY Cobleskill, and Albany, to advance to the IHSA national semifinals March 25th in Hamburg. There she will have the opportunity to complete for a slot in the national finals in May.

The sophomore is majoring in equine science at Morrisville State.

Dennis, freshman forward for the men's basketball team, led Morrisville State to its fourth championship title over the week and a program's fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, averaging 20.0 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game.

The freshman earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors following his 40 point, 24 rebound effort across two games on the weekend.

Dennis averaged 32 minutes per game across the week and shot 57.8% from the floor, while averaging 3.6 offensive rebounds per game, 8.3 defensive rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals.

The freshman is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Monique Dennis of the Bronx.
