Baratier, Gwinner named Mustang Athletes of the Week   


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming volleyball sophomore Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.) and football junior Brandon Gwinner (Schenectady, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17.

Baratier played a key role in a 2-1 week for the Mustangs volleyball program, as they collected a 3-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over reigning champion Gallaudet University Friday afternoon.

Baratier, in nine sets played, averaged 1.44 kills per set, collected two assists, served up four aces, and posted 17 defensive digs for Morrisville State. She had a single match high six kills against Gallaudet, while collecting four digs.

The sophomore is a graduate of Liverpool High and is majoring in applied psychology at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Renee Baratier of Liverpool.

Gwinner, quarterback for Morrisville State, accounted for 346 of the Mustangs 526 total yards offense in the heartbreaking loss to Buffalo State.

In the contest, he completed 14-of-30 passes for 197 yards and three touchdown scores, while adding 149 more in the running game, for two more scores. Gwinner's touchdown passing strikes came at distances of 25-yards, 20-yards and 18-yards, while adding rushing scores of 2- and 1-yards, respectively.

The graduate of Schenectady High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Debra and Lou Gwinner of Schenectady.
