MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming cross country runner Bailey Dillabough (Massena, N.Y.) and men's soccer center back Daniel Sparkowski (East Meadow, N.Y.) the Mustangs Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 15.
Dillabough posted a personal best time at the Cross Country Only Championships (CCOC) hosted by Hobart and William and Smith College's this past Saturday.
In the 6K race and 112 competitor field, Dillabough finished 29th individually with a time of 28:04.0, a 4:41 kilometer pace.
A graduate of Massena-Potsdam High, the sophomore is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Danielle Lennox and Shannon Dillabough of Massena.
Sparkowski played a critical role in a 1-1 week for the Mustangs, as they secured a key 2-1 NEAC win over Penn College on Saturday.
In the contest, the freshman back made two team saves in the closing minutes of the contest to preserve the win. He also helped anchor a defense that held nationally-ranked No. 7 SUNY Oneonta to two scores on Sunday.
A graduate of East Meadow High, Sparkowski is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State College. He is the son of Kristen and Charles Sparkowski of East Meadow.
