MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming western rider Brianna Felton (Binghamton, N.Y.) and senior men's basketball player Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 18.
Felton, pointed rider for the afternoon show for the Mustangs, took home two blue ribbons on Sunday as the western team resumed schedule competition.
The freshman won her class in the intermediate II western horsemanship division, a field of seven total competitors, before turning in a second win in the afternoon in the same class, among the field of five total riders.
Ward paced the Mustangs to a 2-0 record across the week as they concluded the regular season with 14-2 overall North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) record, going 17-8 overall on the year.
Across two games, he averaged 12 points, shot 100% from the free throw line, while collecting two rebounds, one assist and two steals.
In the regular season finale, Ward hit a three from the left wing to write his name in the record books as the all-time scoring leader at Morrisville State basketball history, crossing the record threshold held since 1957 by Mustang alum Jim Weeks with 1,490 points.
Ward is a graduate of Auburn High and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Lisa Ward of Auburn.
