Cavellier, Livermore named Mustang Athletes of the Week  


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) and Marcus Livermore (Syracuse, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 1.

Cavellier led the women's lacrosse team to a 17-11 non-conference victory over visiting Fredonia last Tuesday, netting a combined seven points behind five goals and two assists, for the Mustangs second straight win.

In the contest, Cavellier netted five scores on five shots, and added to her tallies five ground balls, two draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Just eight games into the season, the junior leads the Mustangs in scoring with 29 goals.

A graduate of South Jefferson High, Cavellier is majoring in natural resources conservation at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Marsha and Lonnie Cavellier of Rodman.

Livermore was crowned regional runner-up in two classes Saturday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Hunt Seat Championships held at Skidmore College, and will be representing the Mustangs at the Zone 2 Championships this weekend in New Jersey.

Livermore rode to a second place finish in the novice equitation on the flat and finished second overall in the novice equitation over fences class, earning his first appearance in the Zone Championship show ring, with an opportunity to advance to the National Finals in May.

A graduate of Henninger High, Livermore is majoring in equine science at Morrisville State.
