Wolf, Bodnar named Mustang Athletes of the Week  

 

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming junior Samantha Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) and junior Michael Bodnar (Miller Place, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 30.

Wolf led the Mustangs volleyball team defensively in a 2-2 week, recording a 3-0 match NEAC win over SUNY Poly midweek within conference play.

She began the week with 17 digs in the win over Poly, adding five assists, five aces and a kill to the victory.

Wolf added week highs of 21 digs in the next two matches, as Morrisville State dropped a 3-1 decision to Cortland before rebounding with a 3-1 match win over Wilkes. In each of those contests, Wolf averaged 5.0 assists and 2.5 service aces.

She wrapped up the weekend with 10 digs against RIT in the loss. On the week the junior averaged 1.16 assists per set, 4.93 digs per set and 0.79 aces per set.

A graduate of Liverpool High, Wolf is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Julie and Tom Wolf of Liverpool.

Bodnar led the Mustang defensive squad in the heartbreaking 27-22 conference loss to Alfred University Saturday, recording a collegiate high 17 total tackles, 10 of which were solo stops.

The junior safety posted 10 of his total stops between the third and fourth quarters as Morrisville State battled one of the top two teams in the conference, also adding a tackle for a loss of four yards in the fourth quarter.

He is currently ranked fifth overall in the Empire 8 in total tackles, averaging 9.0 per game.

A graduate of Miller Place High, Bodnar is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Stephanie Dwyer and Michael Bodnar of Miller Place.
