MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State athletics department has announced its weekly award winners for action ending March 3, naming women's lacrosse senior Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) and women's hockey sophomore Karoline Arvik (Trondheim, Norway) the Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week.
Cavellier paced Morrisville State, despite a 0-2 week, netting a combined four points across two games behind three goals and an assist.
The senior midfielder collected three points in the loss to Canton, contributing six ground balls, nine draw control wins and seven caused turnovers from her defensive midfield position.
On the week she picked up a total nine ground balls, 14 draws, and caused eight turnovers.
Arvik backstopped the Mustangs in their push through the conference tournament from her goaltender position, collecting a total 67 saves in two games, for a .957 save percentage.
The sophomore posted 16 stops in the semi-final win over Nichols College where she posted a .889 save percentage, assisting the Mustangs to the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) tournament final for a third straight season.
In the final against Endicott, Arvik posted a stellar 51 stops in a scoreless regulation, forcing the overtime period, turning away eight in the extra time, while recording a save percentage of .981 in the heartbreaking sudden death loss.
