Morrisville State western team to make strong showing at IHSA Regional Championships

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College western equestrian team will host the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2- Region 3 Regional Championships Sunday at the western riding arena, and look to make a strong showing with its 12 qualified riders.

Fifteen total Mustangs qualified for Regionals, but due to senior internships, three are unable to attend.

The following will be representing Morrisville State on Sunday at Regionals:

  • Jordan Sweeten (Cuba, N.Y.) – Open Reining, Open Western Horsemanship
  • Carrie Herzog (Eden, N.Y.) – Advanced Western Horsemanship
  • Mary Cosenza (Colden, N.Y.) – Novice Western Horsemanship
  • Sierra Dexheimer (Chatham, N.Y.) – Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Taylor Fidler (West Monroe, N.Y.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Sarah Linn (Olean, N.Y.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Alex Reppucci (Everett, Mass.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Karen Rizzone (Eden, N.Y.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Paige Campagna (Brewster, N.Y.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Jennifer Hines (Linesville, Pa.) - Intermediate II Western Horsemanship
  • Mikaela Huestis (Felts Mills, N.Y.) – Beginner Western Horsemanship
  • Chelsey Mahany (Georgetown, N.Y.) – Beginner Western Horsemanship

The top two riders from each class advance to the IHSA National Semifinals held at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio on March 19th & 20th.

Morrisville State completed the regular season as team champions, compiling 241 team points across the eight show year and will be representing the Region at the IHSA semi-finals in team competition.

Regional competition is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Swamp Road Western Riding Arena.
