MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Empire 8 announced the Sportsman of the Year Football Team, naming Morrisville State College junior wide receiver Marcus Jackson-Conner (Sodus, N.Y.) as a 2016 honoree.
The Sportsman of the Year Team award goes to one member of each team within the Empire 8 that distinguishes themselves and consistently exhibits the critical traits as outstanding sportsman.
The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.
Jackson-Conner appeared and started in nine games for the Mustangs as a wide receiver and often was seen on special teams. Throughout the 2016 season, he collected 727 yards on 55 receptions for three touchdown scores, registering three games of more than 100+ yards receiving for Morrisville State.
Come season end, Jackson-Conner ranked seventh overall in the conference in receiving yards per game (80.8) and was 10th in overall yards (727).
A graduate of Aquinas High School, Jackson-Conner is majoring in entrepreneurship and small business management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Slyenna and James Conner of Sodus.
