MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2016 Field Hockey All-Conference Team and individual award winners, selecting Morrisville State College freshman goalkeeper, Meredith Koziol (Waterford, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) as the Rookie of the Year.
Koziol started in all 17 games between the pipes for the Mustangs, logging a conference high 1,148 minutes in net with a league leading four shutout performance across the season.
The freshman finished her inaugural collegiate season ranked second in the conference in saves (132), save percentage (.772) and goals against average (2.38). Within conference play, Koziol registered a 2-1 record, both wins shutout victories, while posting a 0.32 goals against average, 10 saves and .909 save percentage.
Koziol currently ranks 31st in the NCAA, Division III, in saves per game (8.0) and is ranked 58th overall in save percentage.
Koziol was also an All-Conference selection at goalkeeper.
The two-time NEAC Defensive Player of the Week selection is a graduate of Shenendehowa High and is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Brigette Hamel and Philip Koziol of Waterford.
