MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its final standings for the 2017 field hockey season, and has named Morrisville State College the regular season champions after finishing with a 4-0 record against league opponents.
Despite finishing atop the NEAC standings, the Mustangs are not eligible to compete for the tournament title, as they play for the automatic qualifier within the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
Keuka College will face Wilson College in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division Championship game, and will face the winner of the NAC East Division Championship game on November 4 for the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.
Morrisville State earned the title after defeating Keuka 3-1, Wilson 3-1 and Wells College 4-2. They wrapped up league play against NEAC opponents Friday night, downing Bryn Athyn College by a 4-2 final for the perfect league record.
This is the second season that NEAC full members Bryn Athyn College, Keuka College, Wells College and Wilson College have competed as associate members of the NAC, comprising the West Division. The NAC East Division includes Castleton University, Colby-Sawyer College, Husson University, University of Maine-Farmington, New England College and Thomas (Me.) College.
