COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Sophomore Kenny Bonaparte (Soundview, N.Y.) hit a layup with 45 seconds to go in the overtime period to give visiting Morrisville State College the one-point lead, and added a free throw late in the game to lift the Mustangs to an 80-75 overtime win over host SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday night in Cobleskill.
Morrisville State improves to 5-2 on the season, 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.
Bonaparte recorded 19 points in 54.5% shooting from the floor, adding four rebounds to go along with an assist.
Ward, who extended the Mustang lead to five in the closing seconds of overtime with three made free throws, hit 7of-11 from the floor, including three from long range, while adding six rebounds, six assists and two steals to his tallies on the night.
Dennis led the Mustangs on the boards with 16, snaring seven on the offensive glass, collecting his sixth double-double of the year.
Morrisville State shot 47.8% from the floor on the night, collecting 16 points off 15 Fighting Tiger miscues, while outgaining Cobleskill 46-35 on the boards.
The Mustangs return to the court Saturday, traveling up north to face Clarkson University in a non-league contest.
