MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Corvias Division III North weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College freshman guard, Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) the Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 29.
Miller is the second straight Mustang to collect the weekly honor, following teammate Kevin Dennis' (Bronx, N.Y.) selection last Monday.
Miller came off the bench to lead Morrisville State to a 2-1 conference record over the week, including in the 96-90 defeat of conference unbeaten Gallaudet University on Sunday. He posted a collegiate high 30-points in the win over the Bison, nailing 8-of-9 from beyond the arc, while shooting 10-of-13 from the floor in the game.
Seventeen of his points came in the first half of play, while shooting a game total 76.9% from the floor, and 88.9% from long range.
Miller also registered a 15-point outing on Saturday in the 91-74 defeat of Wilson College, hitting three from long range, while shooting a combined 60% from the floor on the day.
Across three games on the week, the freshman averaged 17.0 points per game, shot 68% from the floor, 70.6% from beyond the arc, while adding on average 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.3 blocks per game in 19 minutes played per contest.
The freshman is a graduate of Archbishop Stepanic High and is majoring in computer information systems at Morrisville State College. He is the son of Benita and Dirk Miller of White Plains.
