MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Three posted double figures Wednesday night to lead Morrisville State's men's basketball efforts against cross town rival SUNY Poly, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats swept the series with a 90-80 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.
The loss drops Morrisville to 11-6 on the season, 8-3 in conference play.
Freshman Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) led all scorers on the night, collecting his 12th double-double of the season behind his 30 points and 19 rebound performance, 10 of his game total boards came on the offensive glass.
Morrisville State nearly matched the Wildcats in the second half in scoring, but it was the first half deficit that proved to be the difference down the stretch as Poly held the 43-34 advantage at the break.
Poly outshot the Mustangs 51% to 33.3%, but Morrisville State outgained the Wildcats 50-35 on the boards.
Quayshaun Mitchell led the Wildcats in the win, posting a team best 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds.
Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Keuka College for a 3 p.m. NEAC tipoff.
