MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly award winners Monday afternoon, naming Morrisville State College freshman forward, Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 5.
Dennis totaled 77 points and 32 rebounds for the Mustangs across three games, as Morrisville State went 2-1 in conference play.
In a midweek battle against SUNY Poly, Dennis hit 12-of-13 from the free throw line en route to a team-high 30 points in addition to a collegiate high 19 boards, 10 of which came on the offensive glass, while adding one steal and two blocks to his tallies on the night.
On Saturday, the freshman led Morrisville State in a 57-52 victory over Keuka, leading the Mustangs again with 16 points. Dennis closed out the week by shooting 92.9 percent from the floor Sunday to match a career-high 31 points in an 84-70 win against Wells.
Dennis averaged 25.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocked shots across the week for the Mustangs, and is currently ranked fifth overall in the conference in points per game (20.3), is first in rebounds per game (10.9), third in field goal percentage (59.1%), and is first in offensive rebounds per game (5.3).
The freshman is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Monique Davis of the Bronx.
