Dennis named ECAC Division III North Rookie of the Year

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its major award winners and Division III All-Star teams Thursday, naming Morrisville State College freshman forward, Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) the North Region Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year, and second team honoree.

Dennis led Morrisville State back to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title this season and the program's fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, after an impressive debut for the Mustangs this season.

Starting 26 of 29 games at forward, Dennis led Morrisville State in scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.2 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game while shooting 60.3 percent from the floor.

Dennis held several rankings within the NEAC, including ranking first in field goals made, fourth in free throws made, second in field goal percentage, first in offensive rebounds, second in defensive rebounds, and first overall in rebounds.

The freshman also ranks in the top 16 in four different categories within all of Division III, including 11th in double-doubles (18), fourth in offensive rebounds (4.83), 16th in total field goals, and 11th in total rebounds.

Dennis also wrote his name into the Mustang season record books for men's basketball after his first season, ranking fifth overall in points, third in field goals made, third in free throws made, first in offensive rebounds, third in defensive rebounds, first in total rebounds and fourth in points per game.

Also the NEAC Rookie of the Year and first team all-conference selection, Dennis is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Monique Davis of the Bronx.
