Morrisville State men pick up 76-67 NEAC win over Cobleskill  


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host Morrisville State College men's basketball used a late 14-4 run in the first half to broaden the gap and pick up an eventual 76-67 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) visitor SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday evening in Morrisville.

The win lifts the Mustangs to 8-7 to date on the season, 6-1 within conference play, while Cobleskill drops to 4-11, 1-7 in NEAC action.

Four paced Morrisville State with double figures, with senior guard Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) leading the way with his game high 22. Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) added 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) contributed 13 off the bench.

Brison Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) collected a double-double with 10 points, adding a collegiate best 17 rebounds and four assists, as the Mustangs dominated the glass, 51-37 over the Fighting Tigers.

Morrisville State trailed 18-19 in the back and forth battle in the opening period, before a three by Ward gave the hosts the three point lead, sparking a 14-4 run that found the Mustangs with the 34-27 advantage at the break.

In the second, Cobleskill opened with seven straight points before the Mustangs rattled off nine straight over the next three minutes, for their first double digit lead of the contest.

Morrisville State were able to maintain their distance down the stretch to secure the conference win.

The Mustangs finished shooting 45.5% from the floor, compared to 33.8% for Cobleskill.

They return to the court Saturday, hosting Penn College at 1 p.m. on the Mustangs home court.
