MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's basketball team received the top seed in the North Division after finishing with a 10-2 divisional record, and will host fellow Route 20 Rival Cazenovia College on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in the quarterfinal round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament, as announced by the conference office late Saturday night.
Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. in the college's John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities Gymnasium.
Morrisville State and Cazenovia College are no strangers this season, having split the regular season series by a combined margin total of eight points. In the first meeting Jan. 31, the Wildcats battled the Mustangs through two overtime periods before claiming the 90-85 win, but Morrisville State avenged the loss in the Feb. 13 meeting, edging the rivals 70-67 to even the series.
SUNY Polytechnic earned the second seed for the North, finishing at 10-2 within divisional play, but with two losses to the Mustangs, Morrisville State got the nod for the number one seed. The Wildcats will host third seed Keuka College at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
In the South Division, Lancaster Bible claimed the top seed and regular season crown with an 11-1 divisional record, going 15-1 overall in conference action, and will host Penn St. Abington at 6 p.m. The Nittany Lions earned the fourth seed.
Second seed Wilson College will host Gallaudet University, who earned the third overall seed, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Following the first round quarterfinal games, the four remaining teams will be reseeded. The top seed will serve as host for the Final Four, which is scheduled for Feb. 24-25.
