COBLESKILL, N.Y. –
The Morrisville State College men's golf team opened the spring schedule at the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational, placing fourth overall out of five teams.
Morrisville State finished with a score of 367 on the 6146 yard/par 71 Canajoharie Golf Club and Country Club course, with freshman Darren Young (Woodstock, Ontario) leading the Mustangs with a score of 84 (+13 par) for a ninth place finish overall.
Chris Azzano (Oshawa, Ontario) was six shots behind Young with an overall score of 89 for a 13th overall place at the invitational, while teammate Zac McMichael (Bancroft, Ontario) shot 94 for the day, 17th overall, and Brandon Davis (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Zach Bayer (Glendale, Ariz.) an even 100 to tie for 20th.
Morrisville State finished six strokes behind third place Mass. College of Liberal Arts, who posted a team score of 361. SUNY Cobleskill won the invitational, with its "A" team shooting 305, +21 par, and its "B" team finishing with 341 strokes, +57.
Keuka rounded out team scoring in fifth with 378 strokes on the day.
Morrisville State returns to the fairways Wednesday in a dual against Cazenovia College at the Cazenovia Country Club.
