COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's golf team opened the 2016 season Friday afternoon on the road at the SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational, finishing with a sixth place finish out of nine competing teams.
Morrisville State shot a combined 342 score on the par 70 - 6,163 yard course, 62 over par. SUNY Cobleskill posted a combined score of 307 to win the invitational on their home course at the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club
Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio) finished with a score of 82 strokes to lead the Mustangs, tying for 13th overall while teammate Brandon Davis (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was a mere two strokes behind with a score of 84 to tie for 18th among the field of 55 competitors.
Brad Hefner (Billings, Mt.) also turned in a score of 84 on the day to finish third for Morrisville State, followed by Cody Holmes (Fort Ann, N.Y.) who shot 92 on the day for a 40th individual place finish.
Andrew Holcomb (Hamilton, N.Y.) rounded out scoring for the Mustangs in 50th place, with a score of 105 strokes.
