Morrisville State golf takes second at Mid Atlantic Classic

CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's golf team compiled a team score of 334 strokes to finish second overall at the Mid-Atlantic Classic hosted by SUNY Cobleskill at the Canajoharie Golf Country Club in Canajoharie.

Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio) led the Mustangs with a score of 79, +8 on the par-71, 6,147 yard course, to finish second individually, just one stroke shy of individual medalist Nathaniel Stanton of Cobleskill.

Cody Holmes (Fort Ann, N.Y.) shot an 83 for Morrisville State to finish ninth in the field of 21.

Jesse Pflaumer (Elba, N.Y.) tied for 10th overall, registering a day's score of 84 strokes, while teammate Brad Hefner (Billings, Mt.) posted an 88 on the day's action for 13th place.

Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) was 14th overall with his score of 90, rounding out the Mustang scoring.

Cobleskill won the classic with a combined team score of 320 (+36 par). Keuka finished with a combined score of 337 to earn a third place finish.

Morrisville State returns to the greens next Saturday, competing at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships hosted by Bryn Athyn at the Philmont Country Club.
