Morrisville State golf finishes season sixth at NEAC Championships; Martin named All-Conference

BRYN ATHYN, PA – The Morrisville State College men's golf team wrapped up the 2017 season Sunday, finishing sixth overall at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships hosted by Bryn Athyn College Saturday and Sunday.

Morrisville State combined for a team score of 684 strokes across the two-day event at the Philmont Country Club, shooting a 346 on day one before following with a 338 on Sunday to complete tournament play on the par-70, 6,260 yard course.

The Mustangs were led by Layne Martin (Findlay, Ohio), who was named second team All-Conference following his two-day total of 159. Martin finished sixth overall among 44 participants, shooting an 80 on day one, before following with a 79 this afternoon to compete the championship round.

Jesse Pflaumer (Elba, N.Y.) finished 16th with his combined score of 166, shooting a collegiate best 79 in today's final round, just missing All-Conference accolades.

Brad Hefner (Billings, Mt.) put together a two-day total of 176 to earn a 30th overall finish, while teammates Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) and Cody Holmes (Fort Ann, N.Y.) were 37th and 38th, respectively, with scores of 183 and 185.

Rutgers Camden claimed the tournament win with their combined score of 617. Mike Lam of Pen St. Abington was the individual conference champion with his score of 150 spanning both days, edging two from Rutgers Camden for the individual medalist title.
