MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Men's Ice Hockey team matched the Lakers in the first period goal for goal, but could not withstand Oswego States offense. The Mustangs ultimately fall 8-1 in the second game of their home and away SUNYAC series.
Despite the Lakers scoring first at the 8:06 mark in the first period, CJ Stubbs (Pleasant Grove, Vt.) was able to knot the score at 1-1 at the 15:42 mark when the Mustangs took advantage of an Oswego State penalty for the power play goal. Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) picked up the assist, his team-leading ninth of the season.
However, the Likers fired right back over a minute later for the 2-1 advantage heading into the first intermission.
From the 1:13 mark on in the second period, it was all Lakers for the next two periods, as they pounded the Morrisville net with 25 shots on goal, converting on six of those shots.
With the 8-1 win, the Lakers improved to 9-0-0 overall and 7-0-0 in the SUNYAC, while Morrisville dropped to 1-8-2 overall and 1-6-1 in the SUNYAC.
The Mustangs will take a hiatus from conference play as they face off against six non-conference opponents over the course of the next month and a half. The first two of those contests will take play on Morrisville's home ice on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10. The Mustangs will first take on the Pioneers from Utica College on Friday, followed by a matchup against the Kangaroos from SUNY Canton. Start time for both nights is 7:00 PM in the Ice Plex.
