DeVito gets SUNYAC Rookie of the Week nod

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selected its men's ice hockey Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 11, naming Morrisville State freshman forward Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) the conference Rookie of the Week following his on ice performance over the weekend.

DeVito posted his first collegiate hat trick in an 8-4 win over Cortland on Saturday, collecting four points in the contest as he picked up an assist.

One of DeVito's tallies came on a power play seven minutes into the first period, his first of the night. He added a second score late in the second period, which proved to be the eventual game winner, before wrapping up scoring with an unassisted goal in the third, for a +2 on ice rating.

DeVito completed his inaugural collegiate season with six goals and 10 assists for 16 points.

The freshman is a 2014 graduate of South Kent High and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State, following a two-year playing stint with the Wellington Dukes. He is the son of Joanne and John DeVito of Averill Park.
