MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its men's ice hockey weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College sophomore net minder Jared Young (Pueblo West, Colo.) the Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Oct. 29.
Young recorded a .953 save percentage across two games on the weekend behind his total 81 saves as Morrisville State finished with a 0-0-2 record on the opening weekend.
In Friday night's opener on the road at Manhattanville, Young registered 40 stops, including five in the overtime period to secure the tie. He added another 41 saves on Saturday in the overtime tie with Stevenson, registering double digits across all three periods, and one in the extra time to secure the tie.
The sophomore posted a 1.85 goals against average on the weekend, in 129:35 of play.
A natural resources conservation major at Morrisville State, Young is the son of Eric and Teri Young of Pueblo West.
