MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its weekly award recipients, naming Morrisville State College sophomore forward, Nick Devito (Averill Park, N.Y.) the Ice Hockey Player of the Week, for the week ending December 3.
Devito led Morrisville State to a 2-0 sweep of SUNY Canton over the weekend, posting a combined eight points on six goals and two assists.
The sophomore started the weekend with a one goal, two assist performance Friday night, netting the eventual game winning tally late in the second period in the 5-3 win.
He then turned in a collegiate best performance on Saturday, netting all five scores as Morrisville State captured the 5-3 victory. Three of his tallies came on the power play, wrapping up his weekend with a +5 on-ice rating and two game-winning scores.
In all, the sophomore was involved in eight of the Mustangs 10 total scoring plays across the weekend.
A graduate of South Kent High, DeVito played two seasons for the Wellington Dukes before joining the Mustangs as a business administration major. He is the son of Joanne and John DeVito of Averill Park.
