Plattsburgh two goals in first lead to 3-0 win over Morrisville State  


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Plattsburgh St. scored twice in the opening period Saturday night against host Morrisville State, and added another in the second as they collected a 3-0 final victory to earn the weekend sweep in Morrisville in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.

  • Plattsburgh took a 1-0 lead 5:05 into the opening period as Tom Bowe placed the one-timer past Morrisville State goaltender Jorgen Johnson (Waterford, Mich.) for the early tally. Mike Falanga was credited with the assist as he passed the puck across the front of the crease from the left.
  • The Cardinals made it 2-0 at the 15:32 mark in the first off a shot that went over the pad of Johnson. Rich McCartney posted the score, assisted by Cam Owens and Joe Drabin.
  • Plattsburgh added a final score at 14:30 in the second period, a tip by Cole Stallard off the feed from Daniil Ovchinnikov and Greg Malafronte.
  • Johnson recorded 34 stops in net in the loss for the Mustangs, as Plattsburgh held the 37-21 advantage in shots.
  • Both teams killed off all opportunities on the power play, Plattsburgh went 0-for-5, and Morrisville 0-for-6.


  • Morrisville State returns to the ice next Friday, hosting Cortland at 7 p.m.
