GENESEO, N.Y. – Visiting Morrisville State College men's lacrosse was held scoreless in the second half of a non-conference tilt with host SUNY Geneseo Wednesday evening, falling in the road affair by a final 15-3 to the Knights.
The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-2 early on in the season. Geneseo collects their first win of 2018.
Senior goalkeeper Dan Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) recorded 11 stops in the loss between the pipes, also picking up four ground balls.
Geneseo raced out to a 3-0 lead midway through the opening quarter before the Mustangs posted back-to-back tallies to make it a one goal game after the first frame.
The Knights, though, added four straight in the second quarter, including two a mere 14 seconds apart for a 7-2 advantage, before Geswaldo mustered his second tally at 4:57 to cut the deficit to four.
That's as close as the Mustangs would get, however, as the Knights went on to add eight additional scores to their lead, while making five stops of their own to keep the visitors off the board in the second half.
Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, traveling to SUNY Oneonta for a noon face-off.
