McCormick named NEAC Rookie of the Year  


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its 2018 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and individual award winners, selecting Morrisville State's Nate McCormick (Cortland, N.Y.) as the conference's Rookie of the Year.

McCormick is the third under the direction of head coach Jason Longo to earn this honor.

The freshman was the top rookie for the Mustangs at his face-off specialist position, winning 81-of-171 attempts from the center x (47.4%), and collecting 45 ground balls during the regular season.

He also notched one goal and an assist for two points, and caused one turnover with a single game high 17 wins (on 17 attempts) coming against Wells, where he also had a single game high nine ground ball pickups.

Twice on the season McCormick was in double digits in faceoff victories, winning 10 at Scranton.

A graduate of Cortland High, McCormick is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. He is the son of Brandy Strauf and Donald McCormick of Cortland.
