Morrisville State men run wild in 20-2 win over Mavericks  


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State men's lacrosse team picked up their fourth straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win Sunday afternoon on Senior Day, as they out ran visiting Medaille College 20-2 on Drake Field in Morrisville.

  • Fourteen different Mustangs recorded points Sunday afternoon as they handed visiting Medaille College a 20-2 behind 10 different goal scorers in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action.
  • Chris Dovi (Cortland, N.Y.) and Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) paved the way with four goals and two assists a piece, while six additional teammates collected a score each.
  • Geoffrey Field (Glen Cove, N.Y.) added two to contribute to the win.
  • Niko Cejic (Johnson City, N.Y.) posted the win in net, turning away two, before being relieved by Brenden Gibson (Kirkville, N.Y.) for the second half. Gibson notched two saves.
  • The contest, which celebrated its senior class prior to the opening face-off, was highlighted by a score from senior captain and defenseman Brendan Boles (Goshen, N.Y.), who initiated the offensive scoring play with one of two caused turnovers on the day.
  • Fellow senior Shawn Walberger (Fulton, N.Y.) had a dominating day at the center x, winning 15-of-17 face-offs, while collecting a team high 14 ground balls.
  • Morrisville State dominated the contest from the opening whistle, outscoring the Mavericks 6-0 in the opening quarter before adding seven more in the second to claim a commanding 13-0 advantage midway through.
  • Medaille was able to sneak two past the Mustang defense in the third quarter, but Morrisville State matched their tallies and went on to net five more in the final 15 for the win.
  • The Mustangs held the 57-10 advantage in shots, and 55-22 lead in ground balls, while finishing near perfect in clears with 27-of-29 successful attempts.


  • Morrisville State hits the road for their final three contests of the season, traveling to Hilbert on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. NEAC matchup before wrapping up the regular season with conference bouts against Cobleskill and Keuka the following week.
