MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 season opening decision to host Nazareth College Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Doug May Memorial Soccer Classic in Rochester.
The Golden Flyers lone goal of the game came in the 40th minute of the first half, as Dylan Pettit connected with Lucas Bennett on the diving header to the far post.
Mick Keilan (Berlin, N.Y.) registered five stops in the loss in his collegiate debut, as Nazareth posted 12 shots on the day.
Brian Wilkin posted the win for Nazareth, turning away a game total four, two in each half.
The Mustangs had two chances late in the contest to score, but the shot opportunities sailed wide as Nazareth picked up the non-conference win. Morrisville State had 14 shots throughout the contest against the Golden Flyers.
Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, facing tournament host Rochester Institute of Technology on the RIT campus.
