MacWatters named 2016 NEAC Rookie of the Year

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its individual award winners Friday, naming Morrisville State College freshman midfielder Griffen MacWatters (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) the 2016 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year.

MacWatters appeared in 15 games for the Mustangs at center mid and posted eight goals and four assists for 20 points in his first season.

Twice on the year MacWatters posted game winning tallies, including conference wins over Lancaster Bible and Penn College.

The freshman earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors on October 4. His play on both ends of the field created havoc for opponents as MacWatters often was the play maker in the midfield in the transition game.

Also an All-Conference first team selection, MacWatters is a graduate of Ballston Spa High and is majoring in horticulture business management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Alison VanDyke and Bruce MacWatters of Ballston Spa.

Morrisville State College's curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.

The college was ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North by U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2016 issue and was also recognized in the Top Public Schools, Regional Colleges North in the 2016 Best Colleges rankings. For more information about Morrisville State College, visit
