Sparkowski recognized by conference office as Defensive Player of the Week   


MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly award winners in the sport of men's soccer Monday, naming Morrisville State College freshman center back Daniel Sparkowski (East Meadow, N.Y.) the Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 15.

Sparkowski played a critical role in a 1-1 week for the Mustangs, as they secured a key 2-1 NEAC win over Penn College on Saturday.

In the contest, the freshman back made two team saves in the closing minutes of the contest to preserve the win. He also helped anchor a defense that held nationally-ranked No. 7 SUNY Oneonta to two scores on Sunday.

A graduate of East Meadow High, Sparkowski is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State College. He is the son of Kristen and Charles Sparkowski of East Meadow.
