Evans named 2016 NEAC Runner of the Year

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its All-Conference and Individual Award winners Wednesday for men's cross country, naming Morrisville State College senior Byron Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.) the 2016 Runner of the Year.

Evans, who flew through the eight-kilometer NEAC Championship course held at Lancaster Bible, captured first place with a time of 26:43.07 and outdistanced the 101-runner field by nearly 23 seconds.

His claim to the individual title also earned him All-Conference accolades for a fourth time, and a second straight as a member of the first team. Evans was also named the 2016 NEAC Runner of the Year, becoming the first Morrisville State men's cross country runner to earn that accolade.

The Cazenovia, N.Y. native is majoring in automotive technology at Morrisville State. He is the son of Merry and Jim Evans.
