Morrisville State shut out in loss to Albright

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Morrisville State College softball dropped to 2-3 overall Wednesday morning, as Albright College posted the 8-0 non-conference victory in five innings at the Snowbird Classic held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Brianna Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Heather Weinstein (Long Beach, N.Y.) recorded the lone hits for Morrisville State in the contest, both going 1-for-2 from the plate. Martin's hit was a double that came in the opening inning before Weinstein added her single in the second.

Brittany Keator (Roxbury, N.Y.) posted the loss, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing seven earned runs in 28 batters faced. Keator also collected three strikeouts in the game.

Morrisville State kept it a 0-0 game until the bottom of the third inning when Albright broke through and recorded two straight singles to place two runners on base, before a sacrifice bunt advanced each into scoring position. The fourth batter of the inning stepped to the plate and hit a single that drove in two, to put the home team on the board.

Albright added four additional runs in the bottom of the fifth to collect the win.

Morrisville State returns to the field for a second of the day's action at 11:30, facing Arcadia University.
