MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced the 2019 Softball All-Conference teams this morning, naming Morrisville State sophomore Ciera Sprague (Elmira, N.Y.) to its second team as a short stop.
Sprague led the Mustangs at the plate this season, accounting for a .448 batting average after collecting 39 hits that included three doubles and a triple as lead-off in the lineup.
The sophomore recorded a total 28 stolen bases that led to 25 runs, leading the NEAC in stolen bases in both league and overall play, while ranking ninth in runs scored. Sprague also ranked tenth overall in hits.
Within league action, Sprague posted a .550 average in her appearance at the plate, a league best, while ranking fifth overall across all competition.
Her speed and ability also led to 62 put outs from her short stop position, adding 59 assists as she threw out three double plays on the year.
Sprague's efforts on the field this season found her work her way to the Mustang record books after just one season, ranking second overall in batting average, ninth in runs scored and first in bases stolen.
The Corning Community College transfer is a nursing major at SUNY Morrisville. She is the daughter of Laura Fleming of Elmira.
