Third quarter run lifts Morrisville State women past Utica College, 60-50

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host Morrisville State College women's basketball opened the third quarter with a 14-5 run, and used that offensive spurt to top visiting Utica College by a 60-50 non-league final Friday evening in Morrisville.

The Mustangs head into the break with a 5-3 overall record, while Utica drops to 2-7 overall.

Ashelyne Babb led all scorers with 19 points for the Pioneers, adding eight rebounds in the loss while teammate Maggie Tabone contributed a 10 rebound effort.

Three Morrisville State players notched double figures, including Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) who led the way with 16, adding six rebounds and eight assists to her tallies, while teammate Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) notched 13 points and three steals.

Charlotte Walker (Middle Island, N.Y.) rounded out the Morrisville State scoring leaders with 11 points to go along with eight rebounds. Teammate Kaitlyn Griffin (Brewerton, N.Y.) controlled the boards for the Mustangs, snagging a team high nine in the win.

Morrisville State pulled away in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead to as many as 16 with an 11-2 run over a span of two minutes to secure the non-conference victory.

Morrisville State trailed 19-17 at the break.
