Woodard leads women to fourth straight win, as Mustangs top Gallaudet 79-44

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Junior center, Marissa Woodard (Unadilla, N.Y.), posted a collegiate high 23 points and snagged seven rebounds to lead host Morrisville State College women's basketball to their fourth straight win Sunday afternoon as they toppled Gallaudet University 79-44 in Morrisville.

The win sends Morrisville State into a crucial matchup with cross town rival SUNY Polytechnic with momentum on Wednesday, as the Mustangs host the Wildcats at 5 p.m. in Morrisville.

Two additional Mustangs collected double figures on the day, including Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) who posted 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and eight assists. Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) added 14 points in the win.

Charlotte Walker (Middle Island, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with 11 rebounds, as the hosts edged the Bison 53-48 on the glass.

Both teams played tight throughout the first quarter, with the Mustangs leading by a slim 17-15 margin.

After battling back and forth for the opening two minutes of the second, Morrisville State put together a 10-3 run over the final four minutes of the quarter to head into the half leading by 11, 35-24.

Morrisville State was able to increase their lead to 19 in the third, outscoring the Bison 20-12, before going on a 13-2 run to start the final frame to put the game away as they collected the dominating 79-44 conference win.

Morrisville State shot 41.3% from the floor on the day, forcing 29 Gallaudet turnovers, while holding the visitors to a 28.2% shot completion.
