GENESEO, N.Y. – Host SUNY Geneseo opened the contest with a 27-9 first quarter lead and never looked back as they toppled visiting Morrisville State women's basketball 90-63 in non-conference action Tuesday evening in Geneseo.
The loss drops Morrisville State to 1-3 overall on the young season.
Sophomore Tori Rockefeller (Bloomville, N.Y.) led the Mustang efforts with a team high 18 points, hitting 4-of-9 from long range, while freshman point guard Alexis Campbell (Buffalo, N.Y.) added 15 with her 3-for-4 performance from beyond the arc.
Campbell added five assists and two steams, while Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) netted 14 to complete the Morrisville State leaderboard, also hitting three from downtown.
Morrisville State outscored the Knights 20-11 in the second quarter to get back in the game, trailing 38-29 at the break, but Geneseo used over 50% shooting in the second half, including a 62.5% fourth quarter to take down the Mustangs by a 90-63 final.
Morrisville State returns to the court next Wednesday as they open North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on the road at SUNY Cobleskill. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Cobleskill.
