MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) has announced its weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College freshman forward, Vanessa Klimpke (Winnipeg, MB) the conference's Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 8.
Klimpke led Morrisville State to a 2-0 record in non-conference play over the weekend, posting a collective 5 goals as the Mustangs downed Cortland by final scores of 4-1 and 5-1, respectively.
In the 4-1 victory Friday, Klimpke posted her second hat trick of the season, netting three of four scores, and followed that performance with two tallies in Saturday's victory.
The freshman is currently tied first in the nation in goals per game (1.31) and is second in points per game for a freshman (1.69). She also leads the CHC in goals scored, points, power play goals, short hand points, and game winning scores.
The freshman is a graduate of Westwood Collegiate and is majoring in health related studies at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Shelley and Brue Klimpke of Winnipeg.
