MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming women's lacrosse junior Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.) the Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 12.
Branca posted seven points across two games in the opening week for the Mustangs, leading the women's team to a 1-1 record across the week's action.
The junior transfer notched two goals in a 22-5 loss to Rhodes College, before rebounding with a five point performance in a 13-4 decision over Muskingum on Thursday with four goals and an assist.
In that same contest, she added a team high eight ground balls, registered one draw control and caused two turnovers.
Branca played two seasons at Monroe Community College where she won two straight NJCAA National Championships, prior to transferring to Morrisville State.
The graduate of West Genesee High is majoring in nursing at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Joy Anthis and Carmen Branca of Camillus.
