Morrisville State women make exit from NCAA Tourney, fall 19-6 to #18 St. John Fisher College

YORK, PA. – The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team made an early exit from the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, following a 19-6 loss to #18 nationally ranked St. John Fisher College in the opening round Saturday afternoon in York, Pennsylvania.

Morrisville State, who captured the program's second North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title and bid to the NCAA tournament, concludes their season at 13-6.

Five posted goals for the Mustangs in their efforts on the day, including Chelsea McNeal (Ithaca, N.Y.) who collected two. Gianna Branca (Camillus, N.Y.), Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.), Elizabeth Leva (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) and Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) each added one, with Branca posting two assists.

Kallie George (Tully, N.Y.) recorded the loss, making four saves on the day between the pipes.

Fisher posted the first three tallies in the opening minutes of the contest, before Branca put the Mustangs on the board with an unassisted score at the 24:38 mark.

The Cardinals added six additional scores over the ensuing 15 minutes to jump out to a 9-1 lead, but the Mustangs closed out the half, outscoring St. John Fisher 4-1 in the final seven minutes of the contest to make it a 10-5 Cardinal lead at the break.

In the second, Fisher collected eight straight tallies to open the contest to a 13 goal lead, putting the Mustangs out of reach of a comeback attempt.
