MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its women's lacrosse championship tournament field, naming Morrisville State College as the top seed after the Mustangs claimed the regular season title Saturday.
The Mustangs finished 8-1 overall in conference standings, and were tied with Medaille College and Keuka College who also posted an 8-1 conference slate. After the application of numerous conference tiebreakers applied by the NEAC office, Morrisville State emerged as the overall top spot with the fewest goals allowed (51) among the teams tied.
Medaille College earned the second overall seed, defeating Keuka College 14-13 Saturday, and will receive a bye to the semifinal round, along with the Mustangs, set to take place Saturday on Drake Field on the Morrisville State campus.
Third seed Keuka College will host sixth seed Penn State Abington Tuesday in a first round contest in Keuka. Fourth seeded Bryn Athyn College will host fifth seeded Wells College, also Tuesday in Bryn Athyn.
The winners of each first round contests will advance to the NEAC semifinals scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Morrisville.
Morrisville State will face the winner of Bryn Athyn and Wells College, while Medaille will face the winner of the Keuka/Abington match up.
