MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Women's Volleyball Players of the Week for the week ending October 23, naming Morrisville State College defensive specialist Samantha Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) the Division III North Defensive Player of the Week.
Wolf earns the weekly honor for a second time this season, after assisting the Mustangs to a perfect 4-0 week that included three North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) wins to push Morrisville State into the playoffs for the first time in program history.
Throughout the week, Wolf tallied 55 total digs, averaging 4.08 digs per set with in conference play. She started NEAC play Saturday with 16 digs in a 3-1 match win over Keuka, before adding nine in the 3-0 sweep of Cazenovia.
Wolf concluded the week with 24 digs in a 3-2 thriller over Wells Sunday. Across the week she also contributed offensively with 12 assists and four aces.
The freshman leads the conference in digs (482) and currently ranks 51st in all of Division III in total digs.
Wolf, who was also the NEAC Defensive Player of the Week, earned ECAC player of the week accolades on September 15.
The graduate of Liverpool High and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Julie and Tom Wolf of Liverpool.
