MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Volleyball team cruised to a sweep on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Penn College Wildcats 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition. The Mustangs followed up that win with a second on the day as they defeated non-conference opponent, Misericordia University 3-0.
Morrisville continued to distribute the ball well, creating another balanced attack that produced 40 total kills in the first match. Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) led the way with 9 kills, while fellow sophomore Elycia Crittenden (Louisville, Ky.) added six.
In the second match of the day, the Mustangs put away another 40 kills in another convincing three-set victory. Helena Hanes (Brockport, Pa.) led the way offensively in the second match, tallying 11 kills while also posting 13 assists. Merrill tacked on 10, while Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.) added seven.
Sophomore Libero, Samantha Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) continued to anchor the team's backrow defense, picking up 15 digs in the first match against Penn College and 14 in the second against Misericordia.
Morrisville will hit the road for a non-conference tilt at Elmira on Tuesday at 6 PM before returning home on Friday, September 15 as they host NEAC Pre-Season #1 selection, Gallaudet University at 4 PM followed non-conference opponent, Geneseo at 8 PM.
