Morrisville Field Hockey Bested By Lakers

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs dropped their second SUNYAC contest on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 2-0 against Oswego State.

A relentless Lakers attack forced Morrisville to play most of the game defending their half of the field.  Oswego State put pressure on the Mustangs' defense from the onset taking 7 shots, three of which were on goal.

Despite the pressure, Morrisville State and Oswego State played to a scoreless draw through the first half and thirteen minutes into the second half.

The Lakers finally broke down the Mustangs' defense in the 48th minute of play when Jordan Sheehy redirected Katie Reynolds' initial shot past the Morrisville keeper, Meredith Koziol (Waterford, N.Y.) for the first goal of the game.

Oswego State pushed through the Morrisville defense once again five minutes later when the Lakers' Lacey Woite took the deflection from one of Koziol's 13 saves on the afternoon to take the 2-0 lead.

Morrisville did get their chances, especially late in the first half, as Lauren Kellum (Morrisville, N.Y.) and the rest of the Mustangs had a few break away opportunities.  Unfortunately, the Mustangs were only able to muster two shots on goal.

Morrisville will hit the road again on Saturday, October 1 as they travel to Keuka College for a 1:00 PM start time.  The Mustangs will return home for a 6:00 PM game on Tuesday, October 4 against Houghton.
